Yeah, sounds 'sensitive' to me.

I don't particularly like Sideshow Bob but I can't criticise his personal handling of the problem he has found himself in on this tour.

And because I don't know who the hell is logged on at the moment, I will clarify that this is Rachel, no matter what the username says.

what does him being sensitive about it have to do with his on-field performance? ponting has been the sookiest player and the best batsman of the last couple of years

like i said much earlier on another thread, most indians wouldnt even know he is black, he's much fairer than the majority of the people in the ground. i think it started off as a reaction to his comments and his peculiar appearance, but was blown up by the aussies as a racist reaction. i do accept that once it was pointed out to the indian public that it was taken as a racist reaction they should not have continued with it, and certainly in today's match i did not see any racist reaction, only a lot of boos

He might not know better. It's pretty rare to see TO admit India or Indians get or do something wrong.

He's not saying it wasn't wrong.

This is what he also said:
i do accept that once it was pointed out to the
indian public that it was taken as a racist reaction they should not
have continued with it

The claim/suggestion/hypothesis that it didn't "start off" with racist connotations is not something so completely unfarkinbelievable as you guys're making it out to be. Indians are ignorant about racism. That's why it, in its various forms, is prevalent in Indian society. It's just not a big deal to most of them. That's not a "justification", that's an assertion/statement of fact from people who are/have been part of the society in question.

And anyhoo, if blacks can use the N-word amongst themselves, why can't a people who're on average darker than Symonds abuse him on that point?

Not a serious question, just some fast food for light thought.

Except when it comes to Steve Bucknor giving a close decision against them. Or when a non-Indian makes some sort of negative comment about India, then it's immediately due to racism.

Yes that's so.
Pakistan pull the reverse race card as well when it suits.

India and Pakistan are caucasian of course but sensitive.

I have been called a honky many times and it didn't worry me a bit.

Are white people impervious to racial insults?

No, it's just that silly insults don't penetrate our inherent sense of superiority. Very Happy

The Chinese have that sense of superiority, but not the Japanese. All Japanese, no matter how rampant their nationalism, are stricken with a sense of inferiority to the "white man".

This is just silly. They didn't know it was racist...what did they think it was? A back-handed compliment for looking (nothing) like Hanuman? WTF has the tone of his skin colour got to do with anything?
