Simon Jones leaves Glamorgan
And will probaly sign for Worcestershire by the end of the week. Not sure what I think to be honest. If Jonah gets his form and fitness back - he'll be back in the England set-up: if he doesn't he'll probably retire - either way, we might not see much of him.

Unfortunately I just cant imagine him playing for an extended period of time. There's almost a sense of inevitability that he will get injured again.

I'm sure Worcs will have him on appearance related pay the same way Essex did with Alex Tudor

Nope, he'll be on the same sort of contract as all the other players according to Mark Newton.

Next season will be make or break for Simon Jones. I hope he gets a few injury free months, for all the effort he's put in since his England debut (both on and off the field) I think he deserves that.

I guess to be fit and firing for Ashes 2009 will be his ultimate goal.

It's a huge gamble - no mistake.

A change of scenery may do him good.
Would be a bonus if he's not running in like a scared bloke everytime he bowls by mid season

Re: Simon Jones leaves Glamorgan
How marketable are cricket players? Can counties make much money out of their star players?
Simon Jones is certainly a high profile player and in a team without many famous faces, only really Graeme Hick (and he's more famous for not being as good as he should have been), so maybe Jones might help Worcs this way?

Quite possibly, Matthew Maynard hinted that money was not the only consideration.

He'll be the pin-up boy for all of Worcs promotions whether he is fit or not, thats for sure.

His signing may well give a boost to the membership, which will obviously help the finances.

Where are they getting the money from? Listening to Chairman Martyn Price droning on all summer I was under the impression Worcester didn't have a pot to pee in.

Re: Simon Jones leaves Glamorgan
Is it the first instance of a county signing a player just to be a poster boy?
