I just logged in to facebook (I don't really use it, but a couple of relatives do, so it's a handy place to catch up), and the first thing I was confronted with was a title "suggestions" (which I assume means suggested friends) followed by a handful of names including - I shit you not - Nigel "taipan" W, Debbie "Demelza" P and Hilda "Hilda" R.

Now, I've never looked these people up on facebook (I only knew Nigel's surname - and that only because Lags brought it up once), and there's no way they would've looked me up as my facebook ID isn't the same as my FB handle, so how in the f*cking hell can this be?

I can only assume that Facebook somehow scans people's IP addresses and has some kind of access to their browsing history. How else could they possibly link us?

Which email id do you use? If it's the same as the one you used to contact fellow FB-ers, they probably flipped through your contacts to search your 'friends'.

That'd make some sort of sense, but I don't use the flamingbails email address for anything other than FB business. And by "business" I mean "bollocks".
