tgm to Carry on (or maybe not)

Post by DJ_Smerk on Tue Mar 31, 2009 5:14 am

McGrath defies the Odds

McGrath is a man with much on his plate and more on his mind. And yet, in the coming weeks, he will add to his many commitments by pushing his frame through five weeks of gruelling competition with the Delhi Daredevils in the IPL.

I'd love to see Pidge run in one last time. Would be a joy to watch him show those young bucks how important line and length is.

he is a real hero.

Warney and Pidge are two of the real heros of IPL I must admit.
these two make watching the whole thing really worth it.

In all fairness, he might aswell play in the Ashes.

Atleast he'd be doing more of a service for his country than a franchise...Wink

Yes, the money wouldn't be as good, but certainly the pride of destroying England again would be even sweeter.

And like much of his career, McG actually bowled a lot better than Warne in the IPL last year IMO, but guess who got more attention and plaudits.

I'm not much a fan of Lalit Modi and his Flying Circus, but I might make an effort this year and watch it.

whatever one may individually think of Modi, he deserves credit for pulling off this tremendous experiment.

my only problem with him this time around is that since the whole tournament is being staged outside India, there is not going to be the same strict oversight on 'fixing' and related activities.

You'll get more excitement counting the number of spectators in the empty stands !!

I'm not splashing out on Setanta just to watch this, but will get a dodgy link to follow any English players.

What amuses me is the typical British pathos to IPL once it was announced that it would no longer be held in England.

I hope the IPL is a success and I hope the stadiums in South Africa are full to watch it.

It's not as good as test cricket but it will be good entertainment until the England v Windies return series gets underway.
