LAHORE/KARACHI: Police widened the hunt for clues in Tuesday’s brazen attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore, arresting 250 suspects in province-wide raids – four of which sources in the police said were prime suspects.

The four men included Muhammad Faisal, a brother of Muhammad Adil – the ‘mastermind’ of the attack – sources privy to the probe told Daily Times, adding that they were arrested during raids in Lahore by the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA). Sources in the agency said Adil – who ran sports bikes business on the Outfall Road in Islampura – received a call from one of the attackers at about 9:05am. In the call intercepted by the police, the attacker asks the planner for instructions after the attack, and was told to go to a location near Islampura.

Pakistan has identified the gunmen who attacked Sri Lanka's cricket team in
Lahore and arrested some key suspects, including the brother of the
suspected mastermind, according to several officials.

Most of the two dozen detainees belonged to Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and
Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ), the outlawed militant groups with close links to
al-Qaeda, security officials have told The Times.

Senior police officials said that the men behind Tuesday morning's attack
might also have links to other militants fighting in Pakistan's lawless
tribal region bordering Afghanistan.

However, it remained unclear last night whether those arrested included the
gunmen who killed eight Pakistanis and injured six Sri Lankan players and
one British assistant coach in Lahore. Salman Taseer, the Governor of the
eastern province of Punjab, said only that the Government had identified the
attackers but refused to give details until the investigation was completed.

Not sure if you have noticed but a Pakistani in Pakistan is not a minority!

Plus there have been all sorts of raids in the UK arresting many suspects over the years.

At first I thought this might be about a search (or pressgang) for a decent England cricket team.
