Sri Lankan Govt. invites lifesaving driver for Holiday
Colombo: Radio and TV news have reported here that the Sri Lankan Government has invited the team's bus driver in Pakistan, Meher Mohammad Khalil, for a week's holiday as a 'grateful nation's tribute' to his action in saving the lives of the players in the attack that took place in Lahore on Tuesday.
Reports also suggest that Khalil will be rewarded in monetary terms by the Lankan Goverment.
Brendon Kuruppu, the team manager for the Lankan team in Pakistan revealed that all the players had handed over what dollars (US) they had with them as a small contribution to his brave efforts.
Mahela Jayawardene said: "We owe the team's bus driver our lives. His bravery was quite remarkable. Had he not had the courage and presence of mind to do what he did after the initial attack, then we would have been far easier targets for the terrorists."

Good to see....
I find it almost infuriating that the western media has NOT given any importance to the guy...its almost as if he didn't exist.

Well said. Good gesture. "There is still some honour in cricket."

Poor PP
Desperately trying to find something positive out of this incident and way to blame the western world. Yes, blame America.

Uh, weren't the taliban and other radical muslim groups one of America's pawns against the USSR in the cold war? So yeah, blaming America really works here.
