Earlier this week Media24 ran a feature on how safe it is to fly, but for reason chose to illustrate it with a close-up of the Turkish aircraft that crashed and broke in three just short of Schiphol Airport...

Not a bad own goal, N, - but not quite up to Ryanair's breathtaking standards.
Very Happy

I thought Ryanair's innovative policies towards customer service and its own staff might be world-renowned by now.

*In case they are not*, HERE is the latest episode, which gave rise to the above satire.

And before someone says: "You get what you pay for - so farqin like it or lump it" ... of course, that is Ryanair's basic policy. And the problem. ....

Zero customer service (e.g. zero or wrong information about delays, changed gates and reroutings), and undertrained staff who look like and act they have just been spanked (and haven't enjoyed it).

Sort of.

Of course, the "pay to piss" campaign may be just a publicity stunt (entirely possible - Michael O'Leary is a crazed adherent of shameless publicity, however bad).

But true or not, it sums up the firm's attitude to the public, and its own staff.

Last week, Ryanair announced it was to shut all check-in desks at airports by the end of the year, with all passengers having to check in online instead.

Erm - are their flights through cyberspace? I mean, for most other flights you have to be there in person...

I think I'll fly Virgin.

Although it didn't save me from the chaos in Sydney last week.

I'm booked on Virgin to go to Townsville in early June. I hope the buggers have all sorted themselves out by then.

Nice exaggeration.

Never flown Ryanair. I wont say I never will, because to get from A to B (as long as B isn't too far away) they are probably the cheapest, aren't they?

Are they the cheapest? The 'extras' that Ryanair add on would seem to make them no better than the rest & in some cases, even worse.
