Either net or take the advice of the NT tourism authorities. The only safe place to swim is the hotel pool.

I don't think there has been a shark fatality on any netted beach in SA.

There hasn't been a shark fatality in an unetted beach in Sydney for about 50 years.

Actually the attrition rate for turtles is pretty good. They tend not to lay eggs in places where a million odd tourists a year might step on them. (That wasn't sarcasm or facetioushness BTW).

Maybe the rec fishers have a point about fishing restrictions in and around the harbour?

That's OK, I don't mind you being sarcastic and/or facetious at me.
I was just trying to cover all the bases - and then got tired when I realised it would take about 15 pages to cover all the potentially affected species.

Funny thing I heard today:

Q: Why is it called a shark?

A: Because the first person who saw one could decide whether to say "shit" or "fark".
