Series losses attributable to Ponting

Post by JGK on Sun 01 Mar 2009, 14:35

Getting in early for the inevitable Saffie win tonight:

Ashes 2005 - "My best quick just sprained his ankle and my ATG spinner might want to have a go on a 5th day pitch. We'll have a bowl"

India 2008 - "Huss, we have them on the rack, do you want to roll your arm over"

Saf (in Aust) 2008/9 - Drops sitter off Steyn and allows Saf to put on another 150.

Saf (in Saf) 2008/9 - As tour selector picks Andrew MacDonald as the 4th bowler ahead of Bollinger or McGain in first test. The depleted Aussie bowling attack allow Saf to score 456 to win a test.

Now, what _is_ the selection situation at the mo? I remember in SRW's day, he explicitly said he was not part of the selection process for tours.

India 2008 - "Huss, we have them on the rack, do you want to roll your arm over".. negativity by fleas in the first innings cost us the first test and allowed the banindians to say we were negative and playing for the draw

Saf (in Aust) 2008/9 - Drops sitter off Steyn and allows Saf to put on another 150. Fleas and haddit bat well against the snoozzies but are average against decent opposition...both are abject in the field...Choker fleas tries to extinguish the life out of one of our few decent players...fleas reminds all of his distant relationship with the former pres of Albania who once strangled his forein minister during a Cabinet meeting

Saf (in Saf) 2008/9 - As tour selector picks Andrew MacDonald as the 4th bowler ahead of Bollinger or McGain in first test. The depleted Aussie bowling attack allow Saf to score 456 to win a test.
fat bolli is injured and mcgain bowled poorly in the leadup...fleas batted negatively in both digs but fortunately got out early...giving us a chance of victory

...fixed

yeah yeah

Horrie, you're not even funny in a pathetic-but-mildly-entertaining-senile-old-uncle-Arthur way any more.

In fairness, it is not clear to me (except in retrospect) that McGain or Bottler would have been better selections than McDonald.

McDonald is so far out of his depth it's not funny. Reminds me of some of the players England selected in the mid 90's. You can tell by his face that he knows he doesn't belong at test level.

McGain and Bolly are proven wicket takers at FC level and Bolly had a satisfactory debut in Sydney on a pitch nowhere near as good as this one for bowling.

McGain, although with a typically Vixen absence of ticker, would also give some variety.

I'd give Nathan Hauritz a go. FFS he hasn't done much wrong to be exempt from Selection.

I would say he is our Darren PAttinson but the Pommy selectors weren't so stoppid as to pick Patto twice.

To me it seemed he lacked confidence more than competence.

ponting has earned more respect than the bare modicum he receives here...he is captaining a team in transition and has done very well..we are in this test because of his sterling batting on the first morning

the witless carry on about punter by thickheads suggests wilfull stooopidity and on the part of spivs a vile recalcitrance that punter is a better captain than any sydney has produced since AB and he had to get out of the fetid place to bloom.
