Strauss
I like his interviews. He has already said that an average over 40 will mean nothing anymore, rather it will be the number of match winning performances that keep batsmen in the team. He also said straight up that Bell wasn't picked because he was out of sorts mentally and needed to look at himself, and that Harmi was left out because he was lacking aggression and hostility. Good honest explanations.
Now let's hope that the on field results start to improve....

Re: Strauss
Amazing how quick Mudge is to jerk off over an England player.

Re: Strauss
I thought Strauus had an ordinary first session tactically yesterday - some of his field placings were a tad eccentric, when a bit of old-fashioned orthodoxy might have yielded us the odd wicket.

Re: Strauss
Perhaps, but Mudge thinks he handles the press interviews rooly well so he's the best Captain since Moses.

Re: Strauss
Wasn't there already another thread, started by Trevvy, about Strauss, that went for way too many pages? I think it may even have been titled 'Strauss' as well...

Yeah, but he's paid off Harper, so you're probably ahead.Basil wrote:I thought Strauus had an ordinary first session tactically yesterday - some of his field placings were a tad eccentric, when a bit of old-fashioned orthodoxy might have yielded us the odd wicket.

Re: Strauss
His captaincy hasn't been great so far but the tools at his disposal are very, very ordinary. It's good to see his batting in great shape and I only hope he can uncover some rough diamonds from somewhere and start building a team. As for interviews, he is always an impressive speaker, I'll wait to see if he stands by his words before judging him.
