What a difference a couple of days makes.

... and there's a whole bunch of hindsight experts now. It is what it is - not really a subject for point-scoring.
I wouldn't have thought there was anywhere that could be considered categorically, 100% safe to tour.
Extremists appear to have infiltrated many if not all Test playing nations. And it only takes a handful of them to make a big mess.
Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if the Ashes are targeted by our homegrown jihadists. We know they exist.
But what can you do, postpone everything out of the fear that something bad might happen? You could get run over by a bus, too. It happens.
Which isn't to be glib about a terrible incident, but rather to highlight that there's no such thing as a sure thing as far as security and player-safety is concerned. If the Sri Lanka tour had ended after the ODIs, everyone would have hailed it a success.

I wasn't point scoring, more highlighting how quickly things can change.
I have long said I understand Australia's reluctance to tour Pakistan, but in my heart believed nothing would happen if they did. That's changed now.

It's hardly hindsight. Bombs were going off all over the place for months in advance of the proposed tour . . . . didn't take a farkin nostradamus to see the immediate threat of something unfortunate happening.
I can't help but feel that the SL team were victims of subi "bloc-manship", we'll go just to show that it can be done. Unfortunately the players, and more sadly a number of police, paid the price . . . .
