Aaron Bird - illegal bowling action.
AARON BIRD FOUND TO HAVE DISPLAYED AN ILLEGAL BOWLING ACTION UNDER CRICKET AUSTRALIA DOUBTFUL BOWLING ACTION PROCEDURES
Cricket Australia (CA) today announced that New South Wales bowler Aaron Bird has been found to have displayed an illegal bowling action under the Cricket Australia Doubtful Bowling Action Procedures.
Aaron was mentioned by the match umpires following the Ford Ranger Cup matches between Queensland and New South Wales on 18 October and South Australia and New South Wales on 22 October, and the KFC Twenty20 Big Bash Final played between New South Wales and Victoria on 24 January, as displaying a doubtful bowling action with some of his deliveries.
Under the Cricket Australia Doubtful Bowling Action Procedures, any bowler who is mentioned by three different umpires in the same season is reported.
Aaron Bird made himself available to undergo an analysis of his bowling action at the Australian Institute of Sport biomechanics laboratory in Canberra on February 11. The procedures require all deliveries analysed as part of the test to comply with the allowable elbow extension tolerance of 15 degrees. The assessment report found that not all of Aaron’s deliveries complied with the allowable elbow extension tolerance.
Any player found to have displayed an illegal action is suspended from interstate competitions until he is able to complete a biomechanical analysis that demonstrates his action is legal, but no earlier than 90 days after the date a suspension commences. Aaron’s suspension commences from today.
The player has the right to challenge the findings in the biomechanical assessment report through a CA Bowling Review Group hearing.
I wonder how long before some bitter Vomit starts demanding the t20 final be replayed, or the title handed to Victoria...

Re: Aaron Bird - illegal bowling action.
Presumably I am the bitter vomit
I feel very sorry for the young bloke...his action has previously been questioned and I think the NSW Association and Cricket Australia has let him down by not dealing with the issue earlier...remedial work on his action could have been achieved quietly without the hoohaa the kid now has to deal with

Victoria should feel ripped off. Botha does chuck but he's hardly going to knock anyone's head off. Not that that should decide these things. He does look like a Nazi.

So which one of Tucker and Oxenford didn't 'mention' him the first time?

Lucky that Michael Slater wasn't an umpire...
