I think we should have an English anthem (rather than a British one) for England teams... after all, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland use their own.

What about favourite national anthems of other countries? I think I'd go for Brazil, followed by Italy and Argentina.

I agree - it's terrific seeing the players get into it. Remember the Portuguese earlier in the WC?

The Aust anthem is pretty ordinary but does have the word "girt" which I have a strange fondness for.

I remember the last Soccer WC had some very good anthems but buggered if I can recall which countries. I have always liked the Marseillese (sp) and especially the gusto with which it is sung.

And, FWIW, I don't mind GSTQ.

It's true. La Marseillaise is a good one. Wonder what they're saying.

I always remember Billy Connolly saying that ours was so gloomy it should be changed to the theme tune from the Archers.

I think it is something about eating the heart of your dead opponent.

Or is that the haka?

We were wondering about the anthem of Fiji. Sounds like its been written to another tune, but we couldn't place it. Anyone recognise it?
