Telegraph says Geoff Marsh and Tom Moody are the ones who've been sounded - and also that the opportunistic jammy bastard that is Ashley Giles has applied for the job.
The news (that Moores has got the Lancs job) will be a disappointment for Geoff Marsh, the former Australia coach who was one of the unsuccessful applicants for the same job. But Marsh could yet benefit from Moores' move; he is understood to have met representatives of the England and Wales Cricket Board while in England last week, and is among the candidates for the vacant head coach's post.
Stung by the embarrassment of last week's 51 all out in Jamaica last week, the ECB are stepping up their search for a full-time replacement for Moores. Sources indicate the Western Australia coach Tom Moody has also been involved in discussions, meeting ECB chairman Giles Clarke in Perth at an International Cricket Council summit.
Moody is seen as a leading candidate as he has the kind of presence and charisma that will be needed to unite the England dressing room. However, he has a lucrative contract with the Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League that runs until 2010. Sources suggest that it would take around £400,000 to cover his salary and relocation costs.
Hugh Morris, the director of England cricket, is in charge of appointing Moores' successor. Ashley Giles, the Warwickshire director of cricket, is thought to be considering applying for the job although it seems likely that the ECB will look overseas.

If Gilo. comes within a country mile of the job it will be a disgrace. Better off with an overseas coach - someone, who won't have pet players.
