Although reading comments like this one below the story JKL linked to makjes me realise there are nutters who comment on cricinfo who leave this place for dead in terms of abject stupidity...

At last Sir Allan seem to have come to his senses and is doing the right thing. The thinking of hosting a cricket tournament was good but you need to execute the plan in the right way. The timing of the flawed tournament was absolutely wrong, soon after such a brilliant IPL cricket/entertainment show.I guess jaws dropped to the groung when the ECB saw such a huge amount of cash splashed around. I was so pleased that the 20m stayed in the Carribean. One thing for certain there can never be another tournament as grand as IPL and so glad to see KP,AF,RB,PC&OS signed up to it cos IPL is where you enjoy cricketing talent and its not meant for wimps. Pathetic, T20 should only be played in domestic cricket and once every tour.
I don't mind the idea of a T20 WC but can we ban the IPL and ICL.
