Why do they name their trophies after former England players? Ranji trohy, Irani trophy.....

just seeing the highlights, rahane playing some pleasing shots. one wicket too many for us, esp that of jaffer. he and muzumdar were the key for us to get a big total

Don't worry TO. It seems Nayar once again played one his great counter-attacking knock and left ROI bowlers absolutely clueless who were feeling on top just a moment back!! It was a superb inning.
After Nayar and Kukreja, who played a great anchor-role, got out, mumbai have somewhat fallen apart.
The only disappointment today was Munaf Patel who is in no rhythm, overstepping in every over and is being hammered by all and sundry!
It promises to be a good match , what with ROI side being studded with aspiring international cricketers.
Mumbai's bowling looks rather depleted. Will they stand up against this batting side?

385/8 at stumps. Powar seems to have remembered how to bat and Abdulla doesn't look too shabby either. If I was Kaif I'd tell Munaf to bowl a few yorkers early tomorrow.
Ishant looked impressive, if he can add a few kms of pace to his bowling, he'll be formiddable. Bose keeps on picking wickets.
And how can spinners who looked so good against South Africa-A look so average against Mumbai-B?

hmm, thats a lot of runs in a day, but at least 2 wickets too many having decided to bat first. i wouldnt be happy with anything below 500. what a great innings by nayar though, 165-4 and bombay was in deep trouble. kukreja looked quite solid, except in the 90s. both look good long-term prospects for the team, which severely needs the next generation to step up
our bowling looks a bit weak on paper, but they almost always out-perform in big matches. seeing the pace of the scoring i think this will be an outright win match, so with RoI batting last i would say our chances right now are slightly better than theirs. having said that their batting looks pretty solid, so need some good 'khadoos' play

The track looks like a batting beauty!
Will it turn later? Don't know.
Doremi,
Spinners had looked impressive when there were runs on the board and they were bowling on 3rd and 4th day track!
They were tonked as easily in the next test at Dharamshala on 1st day---the match which was washed out!

South Africa dont really know how to play spin well so the Mumbai under 15's would probably have looked better than they did.

500 doesn't seem likely. 425 at best I'd say, unless RoI bowl really badly. Rahane has a few shots, would be interesting to see how he goes if they send him on A-tours.

Tall and insipid
I was thinking the same - when has India last seen so many really tall bowlers bowling together? And totally mystifying, Kaif's insistence on bowling his pacers for so many overs. Dravid-esque captaincy.
Munaf is turning out to be really disappointing. He could have been the best of the present lot. If he doesn't turn himself around, he'll have to sit out for a while like Zak. Shame, India would have stood a much better chance with a fit and firing Munaf in the tests later in the year.
