The Finisher - Bevo v Paris

Post by skully on Mon 09 Feb 2009, 23:53

Michael Bevan, renowned as the best finisher of an ODI innings for Australia managed to be not out in matches that Australia won in 53 of the 232 matches that he played (and finished in double figures in all but 6 of those innings) for a "finishing percentage" of 22.8%.

Mike Hussey so far has managed to remain not out in matches won by Aus in 22 of 103 matches (double figures in all but 2 of those innings) for a "finishing %" 21.4%.

A fair comparison of two great players.

Hussey is starting to look very comfortable again . . . maybe just the drop in class of the opposition, but let's see how he does in Saffieland.

Aye. He's coming out of a brief 3 month dry spell in 4 years of stellar batting. Hopefully he's back to his best as we get ready to go to Yarptown.

Hilfy really doesn't look like it at the moment. Is Noffke too old? Maybe Ryan Harris?

Hilfy just needs a bit more time . . . the only way to learn what is gonna work under pressure is to do it under pressure . . . the next 18 months is just practice for the Gilly, so use it as such . . .

What are the figures in run chases?

Bevo was at the wicket as the winning runs were hit in 25 out of the 232 matches he played (only 2 single figure scores) = 10.8%

Paris was at the wicket when the winning runs were hit in 9 of the 102 matches he played in (only one single figure score) = 8.8%
