Nah - bollox to it - I'll take the Blackwash for the repercussions that would HAVE to follow.

Thanks
Tbf I wasn't really being serious, although I have always rated Jerome Taylor extremely highly.

Re: WIFAN was right!
I think a lot of credit has to go to Chris Gayle - both for his batting and his captaincy.
The West Indies cold easily become one of the best teams in the world - up there with Aus & Sri Lanka (if not India & SA yet) if most of the following happens...
Gayle remains fit and is given proper backing by the administrators
Sarwan finally realises his potential
Nash and Benn maintain their impressive form
They find a tall, hit the deck bowler to replace Powell.
----------
Certainly with Gayle, Chanderpaul, Edwards & Taylor they have the nucleus of an effective team.

Re: WIFAN was right!
Here is the deal
If WI are 3 OR 2 nil up after 3 test matches then i will root for ENG in the 4th one.
Don't think its going to happen though because WI are not the most consistent unit.

They beat a full-strength SA, the best team in the world right now on their home patch in the 1st test last year. And without an untimely injury to Gayle had a sneaky chance to pinch the entire series.
With a bit more belief, and a couple of better players (like the gritty Nash at 6) they could have beaten Oz last year too, there were times they had them really on the ropes - 23/5 in one of the matches.
Chanderpaul is possibly the best batsman in the world right now, certainly the hardest to dismiss.
They're certainly not the worst team in the woerld any more...

Re: WIFAN was right!
Yeah I tried to explain that we were not the same team that faced England in 2007, but some have hard ears...... Gayle is proving to be an amazing captain, and amazingly our test side has become better than our ODI side under his leadership.
We have 2 spots that need to be filled IMO. The number 4 spot (Ryan Hinds or Lend Simmons should replace Marshall) and of course Powell, who will no doubt get this whole series now that we won the first test. The opening spot will be occupied by Dale Richards when he is fit, and if he fails we have Adrian Barath in the wings.
So:
Gayle
Richards
Sarwan
Ryan Hinds
Shiv
Nash
Bravo
Ramdin (wk)
Taylor
Benn
Edwards

I was in agreement before the start of this test WIFAN.
Surely Barath is man of the moment right now? I'd be very surprised if he's not at 4 for the second test...

Agree & I also agreed with WIFAN about them becoming a better side too.
We'll know more where we stand at the end of the series rather than after the 1st test though.

Barath is an opener, and he is just 18 so they will be a little reluctant to pick him straight away. Lendl Simmons just followed up his 282 with a 78 today so he is an option.
But I would pick Ryan Hinds as he followed up his 240 with another century yesterday. He has been taking wickets with his left arm spin as well.
