Gayle number 1 ODI bat, Shiv number 1 Test bat and yet......

Post by WIFAN on Tue Jan 13, 2009 8:08 am

we still lose almost every match we play. That just sums up West Indies cricket over the last decade. Some fantastic individuals, but no success at all.

ICC rankings

Yep, very true. I fear for your blood pressure PP, supporting Pakistan and the West Indies cannot be good for your health!

It makes a bit of a mockery of either the rankings, or the batsmen of the last year that Yousuf is STILL up there. Probably both.

Gayle just needs a touch more temperament because I think the Sixes tend to go to his head and he feels every ball is a boundary.

He needs to take a step back during each knock and just gain some composure so he doesn't throw his wicket away like he's done so often in the past.

I understand it's like telling Pietersen to slow down and grind rather than attack...but you know, sh!t happens.

Now both Yousuf and Younis are on top with 880 points but they took Yousuf of the list Laughing

England might be playing badly now, but the suffering of England fans over the last 10 years has been nothing compared to West Indies fans. At least you have been competitive, and at least you play a lot of test cricket (unlike cricket starved Pakistani fans).

There are definately a lot of similarites between Pakistan and WI

- Great fast bowlers
- Flamboyant batsmen
- Osciallating teams
- Needless controversies
- Rubbish domestic structure and boards
- Rubbish pitches these days
- Overall win percentage is also quite similar (53.6 for PAK and 51 for WI in tests and 55% for PAK and 56 for WI in ODIs)

"we still lose almost every match we play. "

That seems a grim assessment. You're actually on quite a non-losing streak at present.

We're in a really uninspiring period of cricket if you ask me. Just look at some of those names.

but they took Yousuf of the list

Probably because he hasn't played any test for Pak for sometime now, more than acceptable time limit.

"makes no sense because he is still on the ODI rankings list...."

He played an ODI about six months ago, whereas it has been 14 months since he played a test.
