So can we improve on the 0-5 tanking from the last series?

Surely. Even if the rain has to wash out one game in order to prevent it, surely we can't get cleaned up five-zip again.
Surely.
Surely.
Surely.
Surely.

This summer's home Test series indicator: England came pretty close to drawing the Indian series and bashed the WIs, surely they can win at least one Test, and draw the rest, against Lanka?

I must declare that I am far from confident about either the One-Day or Test series. To be frank, we're not very good at the minute. We will be in time, but we're not yet. In particular, the ODIs fill me with a dreadful fear of thrashdom. Although Chuck is absent, and I think we have a reasonable bowling attack, I fancy our batting won't be up to much.
Here's hoping I is wrong.

Well, that's an issue for another day - the Test series doesn't rev up until December....

I think almost anything can happen. If England are going to get anything from the tour Murali will have to develop gangrene and have his bowling arm amputated- or just have a run of a mill injury that'll keep him out of the tour- whichever's more practical.
When I say almost anything, I mean anything within the arguably dull and limited parameters of an England cricketing performance. Manticores probably won't spontaneously evolve and eat Otis Gibson.

Can England beat the Lankans at home for the first time since 1982?

You mean in ODI's?
There's only been 2 series hasn't there? And one of those was reduced to 1 match because of torrential rains

Dambulla forecast is cloudy and maybe some rain.. Should suit England's mighty swing attack.
Wonder if England will bat though should they flip a head.
Big decision Paul.
