Gilly's This is your Life

Post by skully on Thu 13 Nov 2008, 00:28

...aired on Nein tonight. Yeah, it's a cheesy show but man, what a farkin legend.

It's been said before, but how spoiled were Aus fans to be graced with the likes of Gilly, Warnie and Pidg (amongst other legends) over the last 10 to 15 years?

Good times.

Mike Munro and the whole TIYL concept make me barf. Even Gilly (who looked like a trapped animal) couldn't make me pause for more than 5 seconds as I scrolled through the FTA dross on the Channel selector tonight.

Aye, lardy, it was pretty cringe-worthy stuff, but just a reminder that the last few poor Tests with the gloves should never detract from the career of the greatest ever wicket-keeper batsman.

I wonder what role his publisher played in teeing it up?

Munro wouldn't be nearly so insufferable on TIYL if you could forget his other role as the hatchet man on that televisual turd A C!@@#$% A!!@#$,

Did Harbhajan Singh send his best wishes via a recorded message?

No, but they did have a lad of Asian parentage driving the cab that was supposed to take Gilly to the SCG for a supposed Wide World of Sport ad he was to be shooting. The guy did a great job of playing the incompetent boob, getting lost and running out of petrol (conveniently at a site where MM and the Nein crew could jump out and say "sucked in").

You could see (via the hidden cameras in the cab) Gilly getting agitated, but he maintained his cool and didn't call him an obnoxious little weed!! Smile

You sure it wasn't just an out-take from the Mr Gilly ad?
