Horrie looks to be so bitter. Even Ponting isn't this bitter at losing this series.

Ponting deserves criticism for his wierd captaincy and Australian bowlers, particularly Lee also deserves it for being so off colour for the entire tour. But is the situation so desperate for Australia? Their batting is wonderful and bowling will be competitive too as soon as they play on familiar pitches, which is away from sub-continent. All they need is to unearth a good spinner.

Calcutta/Melbourne: Australia’s 0-2 series loss to India has created such shock ripples at home that former captain Greg Chappell has called for a watershed think-tank of cricket power brokers to ensure there is no repeat of Australia’s cricketing recession of the mid-1980s.

Chappell said a fresh blueprint needs to be chalked out to kick-start a new generation of Australian success.

The review in the mid-1980s, under chairman of selectors Lawrie Sawle, identified Steve Waugh, Ian Healy, Dean Jones and Geoff Marsh who led the team’s revival.

It followed the retirement of Rod Marsh, Dennis Lillee and Chappell. Australia is now again struggling without Shane Warne, Adam Gilchrist and Glenn McGrath, and they suffered a humiliating 0-2 loss to India. “We need to sit down as we did 20-odd years ago and look at the types of cricketers we want to rebuild Australian cricket,” Chappell said.

“We need to do that over the next few months and get together selectors, coaches and high-performance managers. I am sure there will be some strong views and we need to canvas all of those.

“We have to look at the demands on the modern player and how we can adapt to different situations. Australian cricket needs to keep evolving,” he was quoted as saying.

nah sookender I am just bitter per se...a loss over there is hardly the end of the world...

of course we would treat India more seriously if you ever managed to win a test series in Oz...no success last century and no prospects this century...I am bitter about that as it is high time India became consistently competitive and successful outside India

I agree with SG [I am Shocked].

Since 2000, India has won rubbers in WI, Pak and England. Has also drawn against Aus and Eng before. Even in series defeats we have won tests in Lanka, Aus, SA and WI [Not going to mention Bangars and Zimboks there are at least 11 great quality wins against the rest]. We are getting there and are doing much better this decade than we ever did in the 4 decades before that. Winning more rubbers will happen. A little more time is needed is all. Besides this which side do you take 'seriously' since no one has won rubbers in Aus for 20 years now? I don't think besides India, Eng and SA, other sides have been winning as many tests away these days either.....

If one looks at how many times you'v sooked during this tour, it indeed appears to be the end of world for you atleast.
