I would like to know what goes on inside Monty's head.
Talent, opportunity, hard work - it's all there. And still, ostensibly, he doesn't seem to learn.

If Monty isn't cutting the mustard then by all means, get Patel into the team.
Monty being replaced by Patel?
Ah, the silly season is upon us.
So England are now picking by the pound.

I've heard it all now: Patel into the Test side as a specialist spinner.
Perhaps we can coax Ronnie Irani out of retirement to open the bowling too?
Quality idea!

Out of interest, and because I definitely couldn't be bothered to look, I wonder on which tours massive defeats in warm up games have led to rubbish results in one dayers and tests, or if there is simply no correlation. I'd sit on the side of the no correlation.

Linky

The chief tormenter, Kshemal Waingankar, one of the bowlers classified by Kevin Pietersen as a "60mph dibbly-dobbler',' had England's captain lbw for a duck..........
..........England had lost by 3.30pm with the sun still fierce. It was beginning to lose its power about half an hour after the game when Waingankar, who has played only one first-class match for Mumbai and doesn't expect this performance to alter much, stood modestly among a crowd of no more than 100, bat clutched by his side, waiting for his moment to ask Pietersen to autograph it. "I hope he will sign it and that he is not too unhappy now,'' he said. "He was complaining to the umpire when he walked off and thought he was a long way down the wicket, but I thought it was out.''

100 & 90 in the last 3 one day jollys....
Is there any other team that throws in as many of those types of scores as we do?

I remember people thinking THIS GAME meant a lot as a warm up but England won the series and were comfortably the better team.
Speculation over warm ups are for fans to gossip over and reporters to write about but they mean nothing. I HOPE!

On a more positive note, what this match has served to do is show again how well James Anderson bowls with the new ball. He claimed an early wicket with a good away swinger, after wicketkeeper Matt Prior had missed a chance off his bowling in the very first over.

I wonder how many Prior is going to drop. It's hard enough to get 20 in a match. Will England need to get 23 or 24? He's going to be nervous when Sidebottom starts bowling again.
Fine him £5,000 for each drop.
