What the f*ck is the point in Luke Wright?
It's rare I get annoyed by a cricketer doing anything, but it's the fact he does nothing that pi ses me off the most.
England may as well have had a competition where a.n. other could win a place in the Stanford squad. You wouldn't bat, you wouldn't bowl, you wouldn't do much of anything, but you'd still get a fat wad of cash at the end of it.
REALLY??? Wright is REALLY better than Bopara, Napier? Bowls better than Jimmy?!! Bats better than Cook at 9?!
I'm clearly just put out because no one offers me that much money to field for 20 overs. B*stards.

Well said....
Considering the main reason for this jamboree is to reward Englands top players you do have to wonder why Cook or Anderson aren't playing instead.
Let's hope he drops the $20m catch eh?

He really is better than Napier.
But yes, he's utterly pointless, and the only reason he's in the team is because he's Peter Moores' bum-boy. Anyone who thought the Pietersen era would see an end to the cronyism that burdened the previous captain and coach has seen any such ambition destroyed.
That's why it would be wonderful if England lost tonight so that less than mediocre players like Prior and Wright would still be the poor, useless bastards that they are currently.
Sidebottom should have been the man in instead of him. Very few players have striven so selflessly for England in the past 12 months, yet only Matthew Hoggard has been treated worse.

Is he?
Assuming he really isn't a number 8 and that he's actually required to do some bowling...
Napier - List A 158 wickets @ 24, T20 - 44 wickets @ 19
Wright - List A 70 wickets @ 36, T20 - 28 wickets @ 22
Not even in the same league in the longer one day game.

You're 'avin' a laugh aintcha !
Both Malan and Napier are streets ahead of that clown in the T20 format game.
And both of them bowl a bit too.
But you are wright .... bum boys always get to the front of the queue.
BAN MOORES.
Maybe now's the time to put the voodoo sign on him seeing as it worked with Vawn.

Luke Wright "may" not be a bad T20/ODI cricketer, but he's left with nothing much to do in England's line up as there are number of all rounders (for T20/ODI) already in the team.
Flintoff
Prior
Collingwood
Samit Patel
Broad
He would have been more useful for a team like India or Sri Lanka.

We hardly need Wright's batting - not with Broad coming in at 10 FFS, so let's have another bowler. Jimmy will do for me.

You could also ask what the point of Cook in a 20/20 squad is.

All pointless now. Wright, like the rest of the squad, is going home with nothing, thus ending one of the most regretful weeks in English cricketing history.

1 off 5, didn't bowl, didn't take the winning catch, or indeed any catch.
I particularly enjoyed the countdown on the bottom of the screen: "23 runs required to win $20 million." Succinct.
I rest my case.
BAN MOORES.
BAN SUSSEX.

Only if you're as thick as shit. Infact Cook spelled it out before the whole jamboree began...

Its been poor tactics from England, they've played this guy for no reason, when he has got the chance he hasn't performed
They also need to drop Bell from the T20 squad, the guy is useless in T20, Bopara showed last season he is capable of batting up the order but they still didn't give him the chance

Wright has really gone backwards this last 5-6 months. He started the English season with a couple of excellent centuries, but he did sweet fa in the CC, and again for England. His bowling looked to have improved as well, but the progress there seems to have stalled also.
I haven't given up on him, as he definetly has quite a lot of natural ability, but there are clearly better options available at the moment.
