So what?

It doesn't impact on the international cricket calendar in any way.

my point is how long will it last. a windies-england one-off t20 for $20 million a year, basically only really rewarding first team members of one nation a year. not too sustainable imo, esp if as merlin proclaims non-subcontinentals dont care for the game

theres even talk of this year being cancelled. i wonder how the english players will react to that

I've no doubt they would still want to play IPL when they can anyway - who can turn down a truck load of cash if its offered to them?

That's why IPL sucks balls - it impacts on the rest of the roots of the game.

There is a place for it - but the cricket administrators need to sit down and sort the thing out. The cricket calendar is a mess - and rather than everybody sorting it out for world crickets benefit - they are too busy thinking of the $$$$

Well isn't that a cheery thought....

just what i see happening. cheerful or not thats personal opinion. the turnstiles and television rights will have a final say

On the sub-continent most definitely .... circuses are thoroughly enjoyed down there.

Elsewhere, they will be slotted in as a secondary measure to cash inject the coffers of the Boards -
they will not be allowed to dominate or impinge upon the established form of the game.

lol! yes dear

So glad you see sense, hon.

It's like I had predicted before the IPL started when I said that by the time a new FTP is drawn up afer 2011 WC, it may well be full of IPL, SAPL, APL, EPL etc.

disseminating T20 a job for 'super-bunny'? ... agree it's a massively hare-brained concept

So what is Stanford then?

Why is ECB thinking to organise a Twenty20 tournament next year which I think involves playing too many Twenty20 matches (100-odd I think) and which will also involve foreign players just like IPL does. I think we had a discussion on this a while back.

The ECB agreed to host next year's 20/20 cup, which is an ICC sanctioned event.

It doesn't start until 2010 though, and will be scheduled in June/July when there is relatively little, if any international cricket.

20-20 has all the mass appeal of basketball. Constant action, very little nuance, very little variation, please refer to Nath's avatar. Even the dullest fans, weaned on a constant diet of TV dinners and baloney, will soon tire of this.

Fact IPL will back APL ,fact IPL won't back EPL.
Whos' better off.
The only question is how many sies will australia's APL have.No doubt having kiwi sides is great, but having the canberra comets is a loss they really are weak dribble no matter what hopes i would have had for them.
