That is because you have not seen such tracks.
Just check the scores of Chennai track. It has the second tied test, a test which Pakistan won by 12 runs in '99, a test which Australia lost heavily in'98, a test which was a thriller till the last over and India won against Australia in '01 by 2 wickets, then another test which had all the makings of a classic in '04 against Australia but the final day was wiped out by rain. This is a fantastic ground where bowlers like Wasim, McGrath, Saqlain, Kumble and Bhajji have been quite successful.
Unfortunately, it could not get as much sun this year due to unseasonal rains and hence turned into a flat pancake against SA.
In my view no pitch should favour spin from day 1.
If you want to know Taipan, read its history. It favours bounce on first two days. Bowlers--spinners or seamers capable of exploiting that can get wickets like McGrath did as a seamer and Kumble did as spinner.

Looks like history will repeat itself all over again in 2008. This was the ripe time to exploit the lack of quality spinner in Australia's squad and what does India do? It serves a fast and bouncy track for the visitors to exploit. This might drive all the plans of hosts awry as they'll have to choose three seamers in the final XI. Who will that third seamer be and which spinner will sit out?
Or will India go with two seamers and two spinners on this kind of track too?
The beauty of playing a test series in SA England and Australia is the consistent variety of the pitches/grounds weather permitting of course. Each ground has something consistently special in these countries.
How about a run down on your venues I personally would like a current assessment?
Factor in rolling out if necessary.
Are you interested genuinely?
Certainly. The interest down here is gaining momentum rapidly in what should be a cracker of a series.
Don't spare the detail.

Very shortly,
The track at Bangalore was relaid last year after which it seems to have changed its traditional nature of being a low and slow track. I don't know if you watched IPL or not, but all the matches there were low scoring one apart from the opening match where McCullum had played that amazing inning. It shows that it has pace and bounce but batsmen don't find it easy here to score that freely.
Track at Mohali, Chandigarh has always been a seamer's track which starts as a bit green on the first day but flattens out as the match progresses. Bounce remains true throuout the evening but neither the spinner not the seamers enjoy it as much as batsmen do. Hussey had hit his IPL ton at this ground itself. I don't think it has been tampered with after that.
Track at Delhi was a traditional low and slow ground where Kumble took 10 wickets in an inning vs Pakistan in '99. But it has been relaid again and the first FC match on the virgin pitch didn't bring joy to the home team as it was shot for just 134 runs against a team of unknowns from Pakistan. 16 wickets fell on the first day, but pitch eased out from second day onwards. 4th day was washed out, so I don't know how it would have behaved then.
4th test is once again at Nagpur which was a fast track in 2004 and a track which offered help to both batsmen and bowlers in 2006 against England. I don't know how this pitch will behave this year because this is the least known and 'always changing its nature' track.
It is a pity that we don't have a test at Chennai, Mumbai and Kolkatta this year against Australia.

Your initial implication was spin from day 1.
Anyway don't you think a pitch that overfavours spin is not in the best interests of the game?

Well done.
Yes I did watch the IPL series which led to confusion in my mind with Chennai,Mumbai and Kolkatta being played.
Now we have a clearer picture as to what lays ahead.

Fast track? Try flat. And we're no going to ever win again in Bangalore anyways, so why try?

True.
Why don't we dump it? Its been such a jinxed ground for us. After that WC'96 Qf win against Pak, don't think we've won anything of note here.

That is not under estimating Nath. He is not as 'fear inducing' spinner as say Mendis was being a newcomer. Warne and Murali have of course been proven players, while McGain is not as yet.

Personally, I dont think there will be much of a difference between Mcgain and Kumble's final series analysis. Kumble looks like he's reaching the end of the line to me. Perhaps he can go to the well once more but i dont think he'll be averaging much less than 35 for the series. Bhajji's a different matter. Will be worth watching just for him vs Ponting.
