It's one thing the Yanks have got right. They generally simplify the spelling of a word significantly (like dropping the "u" after the "o" in "humour" and "flavour").

Pft.... the Yankees can't even pronounce Herbs properly.

Lever that sort of Americanism is acceptable in British spelling which we Aussies adopt, but many words which are part of American English are not. For the record whingeing is correct usage according to British English but the yanks will often write whinging which is come into common usage due to ignorance and laziness.

Cut the 'British English' bollocks.... I speak & write in English, not some bastardised version.

Like transportation? What does that mean? EXACTLY the same as transport, so they didnt make that easier did they?

Cant think of any more examples off the top of my head, but basically Americans spell like retards because... they are. The only reason they wanted to change our way of spelling is because they are too stupid to understand it. Although lots of Brits are too stupid to even bloody write, because its considered a good thing to be stupid these days.

Honestly I see spelling mistakes and grammatical errors everywhere these days, and i think it makes people look stupid, incompetent and unprofessional. A mistake or two on the internet isnt so bad (as you can tell by my lack of apostrophes and capitalisation) but when you do it at work or when companies put it on their products i laugh.

For example, my mate put Curriculum Virtue on his CV (and somehow got a job!)

And for a bit on what this thread was about...

"The deal calls on the UK to pay compensation to the white farmers who have lost their land under President Mugabe's controversial land reform process."

Why should we pay for that?

Some would define him as a murderer in the Idi Amin category... only now that he's 80 ish years old and been butchering his people for so long, he's considered the "elder statesman" of African politics and thus compared, in essence, though ironically, to the great Nelson Mandela.

If that ain't a f**king joke, then I don't know what is!

Although maybe he could face charges of human rights violations, if he is ousted before he dies. But charges arent whats important for Zim at the moment.

Because no matter how incompetent an African 'freedom' fighter leader is, it's always the fault of the white colonialist.

Some dumb slut tried to tell me the other day for instance, that alternate and alternative can be used interchangeably.

I reckon the region Zimbabwe is located in has a bit of work to do to. One of its neighbours has a flag which includes an image of a machine gun.
