Nice timing.
I'd certainly have him in there before that waste of space, Barmy Harmy.

Strange really that SiJo is being heralded as rapid, when in fact he was bar Hoggy the slowest of our quicks in the Ashes attack.
Generally hasn't ever really hit 90mph regularly, just occasionally. What he does have however is the ability to take wickets when the ball is like a potato, something that our current lot do not seem to possess.
If fit he's a better option that Harmi, purely for that reason alone!

Aye.
Jones at his best was 85/6 swinging it late either way.

Re: Simon Jones - 'Come and get me'
Jones was genuinely quick before his first big injury. In his big 2005 season he never really got up to 90mph.
Harmi, Flintoff, Mahmood, Onions and Plunkett are all quicker. What Jones does/did is/was get the old ball to reverse.

Maybe i'm going crazy, but i'm getting a feeling of deja vu reading this thread. Didn't a similar discussion develop about 2 months ago? And someone said that they'd rather Jones was in there than Harmi?
Weird.
Weird.

Yes, and I wouldn't have picked him then after a couple of first class games...

Re: Simon Jones - 'Come and get me'
Since 2005 Jones rep has gone thru the roof
it' worth remembering he has never managed to complete an entire series, with a bowl average below 30, apart from against Bang
if he stays out of the team for another few yrs, he will hit all time great status, playing cricket for ENG could be the worst thing he could do for his reputation

Re: Simon Jones - 'Come and get me'
He's always been dangerous when playing for England. Always beats the bat, finds movement on flat pitches, gets in the batsmen's faces....
The botom line is that he is class. But yes, he is an injury waiting to happen. Doesn't mean he isn't class when he plays.

I thought he was holed up in a cabin with a shotgun, two pistols and half the ECB at first.

So we should ignore the fact he's got 15+ wickets v Aus & SA in a series just because he's liable to break down?
When he plays he's class.
