Should England keep or dump Tim Ambrose?
Should England keep or dump Tim Ambrose?
And if you say dump, name a replacement. And if you name a replacement, say where he's going to bat.

Re: Should England keep or dump Tim Ambrose?
It depends entirely on the make-up of the side. I've gone for dump because I believe that England will persevere with their five-bowler "strategy." That would require either one of Flintoff or Ambrose to bat at 6, neither of whom are currently good enough, and would therefore require also the insurance policy of Matt Prior batting in the position that is not occupied by Flintoff, be it 6 or 7 (preferably 6).

Not much love for Tiny Tim so far. Three of you want to dump on him. Cruel people.

What though? A couple of knocks against a Kiwi side?
Yeah, they were good knocks - but he just seems all over the shop sometimes. If he hasn't got the width, he struggles a la Geraint Jones... flashing it to gully.
It's just not acceptable batting to have so few scoring areas early on in his innings.
Good keeper that hasn't made me shoot my bolt.

He's a keeping purist though. Most of us have realism on our side.

Is Prior a better keeper than Trescothick?

I'd have given Tresco the gloves in 2004. I'd have also stopped his brain from fading. I'm good at that. He'd now be a bonafide legend.

Re: Should England keep or dump Tim Ambrose?
Prior FFS! What make's everyone think he's going to come good in his second spell of test Cricket? He was awful on his first time round and I personally can't see him doing any better against the likes of India away and Australia. If your thinking about dumping Ambrose for another p!ss poor wicket keeper who's batting is no better, then your all kneejerking qunts. When Prior starts dropping sitters against Ponting and Dravid etc then who will we turn to then?
Personally I think Chris Read or Geraint Jones.

Too early for a Prior recall, his rubbishness behind the stumps is still too fresh in my mind. The only other real alternative is Fred at 6 and Read at 7. It looks like we're farked.

Priors batting sh!ts all over Ambrose....
If people want to slate him for his keeping i'm ok with that - I feel dirty for even mentioning him as a possibility.
But when you start on about Priors batting you make yourself look a fool
