Lankans to tour England in 2009

Post by Red on Tue 08 Jul 2008, 02:25

They will replace the out of favour Zimbabwe.

SL will play two Tests and three ODIs in England next year, stepping into the gap created by England's decision to break off cricket relations with Zimbabwe.

Great news!

*awaits the typical MPV 'what the hell happened there?' look when Mendis bamboozles him first ball*

On a serious note will be interesting to see Mendis at close quarters so early in his career and also how the batsman cope against him.

A thread unrelated to Graeme Smith and South Africa?

Who's hijacked Red's ID?

It's a shame there won't be a Trent Bridge test match next year, especially after all the improvements. I suppose it's only right that everywhere bar London gets its fair share though, shit-hole or nay.

Not really keen on the Sri Lankans touring. Strikes me as being another unwinnable series for England with the way they're progressing. Murali and Mendis in tandem will roll England over, unless we unearth some decent batsman. The heady days when we were unbeatable at home under Fletcher will seem a long way away though after our next three home series, I fear.

Good old Sri Lankans. They more than any other team seem to be the one's who are called on when the side that was originally supposed to tour pulls out/is banned.

seeing as we could only manage a feeble draw last time round will give us the chance to (attempt to) put things right.

of course if it all goes wrong thats terrible preparation for the ashes
