why do the UK broadsheets always invite someone from the touring side, pay them and ghost write a column? Do any other countries do that? I don't think the Aussies of Saffies do it.

The Aussies certainly do it.
It begs the question as to why they can't find a cricketer literate enough to write his own column.
Not that many journos are that literate these days either.
