Farkin' soooooper

Post by Big_Bad_Bob on Fri Jul 04, 2008 1:44 pm

Another wet frigging Saturday tomorrow and another game of cricket looks like biting the dust soaking, cloying mud.

By the time the following Saturday comes (July 12th - pessimistic long range forecast for that to boot) I'll probably have had four league innings since the season started on April 26th.

N.B. Nottingham's right under that dirtiest, darkest blue bit.

How are the pre-game nerves, BBB? I used to look forward to my Saturday game immensely, but on the morning of the game (as an opening batsmen) I used to get a bit nervy. Good for the constitution - I used to sh!t threw the eye of a needle before each game started!!!! Suspect

With that spelling, I would have thought it was 'threw sh!t' but doing that through the eye of a needle would indeed be tricky.

Yes, and yes. I believe the copyright police weren't real thrilled about the muzak site.

Heh!

You sound like the Antipodean equivalent of our keeper, Skulls.

His constitution is so badly affected by pre-match nerves that he carries his own supply of bog paper round with him lest he ever gets caught short!

His pre and in-game dumps are legendary . . . and the aftermath to be very much avoided!

Laughing

We got our game in today by the way . . . first failure to reach double figures this season for me (9) but we won comfortably by about 75 runs - 199/7 played c.125 a/o.

Not a stroke makers pitch - apart from our prodigiously talented 18yo former Notts age group cricketer, it was sloggers who bat to ball that prospered today.

Good win though and good times.

Hehe, I sympathise with you keeper!!

Glad to hear you got some game time and victory, but not so on your batting misfortune.

Cheers - got out trying to force the pace hitting over the top. C'est la vie.

Pitches better suited to my style of batting lie in wait - there's a big score up my sleeve, and rest assure I'll tell you all about it. Wink

Good fun today anyway, big step forward for what has been a badly divided team over the last couple of seasons.

An opener to my core, but oscillating between 3 and 7 this season (first time I've ever not opened in my life really other than when I skipper and try to give others a go.)

Sat through 21 overs at 3 today, and found it really hard to get up to speed when I did get to the middle - never even saw my first ball, waited for the death rattle when it ripped past me in between inside edge and inner thigh!

With luck you were halfway to square leg when that happened?
