Pak Question
Why Pakistan don't do well at home yet perform better abroad? Pressure at home or do they feel better amongst overseas Pak fans?

Re: Pak Question
They just sometimes play careless cricket at home.
They didn't lose a series at home from 1980 to 1995 and then for some reason decided to lose to Sri Lanka, Saffers, ZIM(yes thats right), ENG and AUS in a space of 5 or 6 years. Now recently the home record for tests was very good but it was ruined by that defeat against SA.

Re: Pak Question
I wouldn't say that they play careless cricket only to lose at home. The pitches at Pakistan are incredibly flat, flatter than what we have anywhere in the world. And the younger bowlers have not yet mastered the art of reverse swing as the great Pak bowlers of yesteryears had.
This is one of the main reasons behind not winning enough at home, I suppose!

Re: Pak Question
I remember them absolutely destroying SL in SL in 2006. But then they lost to England in England. And I don't know what happened after that in their away tours. They also lost to SA in SA after that, but I'm not quite sure.

Actually before losing the test match to SA they had been undefeated for 10 straight games and the PAK team had NOT been bowled for 9 straight test matches so there is not much to complain about there. In the late 90s how ever they played some very very careless cricket at home, i remember in one of the games they got out for 102 against ZIM(lost the test match). In the 80s and early 90s they had Imran and Javed who didn't allow them to play careless cricket hence they didn't lose a single series.

Re: Pak Question
yeah lost to both ENG and SA(away).ENG series was especially disappointing because once again they ruined a great streak of not losing there for 24 years.
Interesting thing to note is that they have only won ONE series away from sub continent since hammering ENG in 1996(vs NZ in 2003) so the test record for the last dozen years has been quite average.

Re: Pak Question
It's not like India have a much better record either. Outside the subcontinent, they hold what, WI and Eng?

Re: Pak Question
Pakistan tends to produce some good fast bowlers but their pitches aren't conducive to them performing at their best. Sometimes they derive more help from surfaces in Australia, England and SA for instance, so win tests away. They're generally not consistent enough to be a threat anywhere though.

Re: Pak Question
As TO said of late they've not won much away as well, apart from that win in SL which was a fantastic thing to achieve.
