Chandan, India have always backed Zimbabwe, just so they have an extra vote secured! Pathetic, really pathetic.

But just 9 hours before cricinfo were reporting that India was all set to block Zim.

in fact probably more than half the world's countries are run by dictators/oligarchies. i wonder if the other 'holier' nations will boycott all sporting contacts with them. in fact i wonder how many are sending teams to beijing

Um Chandan, I hate to point this out, but the article says the opposite.

In my opinion, there is no reason for Zimbabwe to be a full member nation for 2 reasons:

1. They are shoite, substandard and generally not very good. The reason for this is due to the political situation there. Now even if you remove the politics from the situation, the Zimbots are not good enough to be a full member country.

2. The money gleaned from being a full memeber nation is filtered, as shown through the recent report, still not published, through irregularities into Bob and his mates back pockets.

Now if you are happy for the world game to line the pockets of a mass murderer, whilst the team themselves are so poor, that a top amateur club side could beat them, then bully for you.

However the only reason the BCCI has for them remaining is an extra vote in their pocket. Hardly good is it for the game?!

Let us see what happens. If BCCI does support Zim, then they will survive, most probably.

The political situation is the main reason Zimbabwe have gone from being a competetive, spirited outfit in the mid to late 90's, to an absolute pile of shite.

All of the ICC's talk in the past about how politics and sport shouldn't mix was absolute rubbish as it was the political situation that caused the likes of the Flower brothers and Heath Streak to bail in the first place. So like it or not, the ICC should have accepted that sport and politics had mixed.

To an extent. Who will play them? India can't force the ICC to include Zimbabwe in the future tours program thingy....can they?

Financial muscle flexing corruption supporting machete wielding corruption.

Yes, that makes perfect sense where the BCCI and it's corrupt infestation of officials are concerned.
Think only about themselves rather than the overall welfare of a destroyed nation and its wretched people.

Nothing changes.

Most probably, India Pak, SL and BD will play with them. But it'll be such a farce of a situation if others back out.

Basically, fringe international players - fringe international players - get £6.00 a month from Zimbabwe Cricket to live on, get all their kit etc. etc. £6.00!!!!!!!!! Loads of them are having to give up cricket and just start hussling. India won't be helping f*ck all bar themselves - by gaining another vote and nothing else. They have nothing like the best interests of Zimbabwean Cricket in their minds.

didnt hear anything like that when india refused to play pak and the other members were not too bothered

India's refusal to play Pakistan wasn't out of concern for human rights abuses within Pakistan.

India refused to play Pakistan because of the fight over Kashmir.

There's a lot of instability in many of the nations that play cricket and nobody's perfect, but you have to draw a line somewhere and the situation in Zimbabwe has crossed that line by a long long way.

Of course, if countries around the world would actually act on Zimbabwe rather than just issuing pointless statements of outrage that Mugabe is laughing at, we wouldn't have to worry about what India do.
