Dravid will go past Gavaskar, Kallis most probably will pass Lara. Ponting and Tendulkar to compete for the top spot.

It could be an interesting race between Kallis and Ponting over the next 12/18 months

I wouldn't be surprised if Kallis takes the record. He scores runs so innocuously(?), you don't think he'd be up there with the very best. But he is.

Ian Bell will rinse the lot of them by the end of his career. That much is surely obvious?

Seriously though, Cook, if he tightens up, could probably join the 10,000 club. Has the technique and the temperament to do it.

Aye, he's young enough to play 120+ tests.

Assuming both Ponting and Tendulkar play till the '11 WC (or Ashes if they come later on in the year in case of Punter), who'd you back to score more runs?

Ponting - I think Tendy's best days are behind him and he seems to be getting more and more injury-prone. Whereas Ponting seems to be at the top of his game.

Who will top Ponting though? I doubt if KP will hang around long enough. I'll be shot down for saying this but Cook stands a chance - his technique is ok'ish now and should improve and he's young enough.

I don't know, there were a few signs that he was not his 'self' in the India series, also glimpses of it in the IPL, could be the start of a steep decline. Or maybe it was just a momentary lack of luck and Bush's evil nephew may actually start scoring runs by the bucketload again.

I think Ponting will want to bow out at the top of his game, can't see him playing much past 35.

Graeme Smith in with a shout of getting to the top of this list one day? Already 5,000+ runs at 27...
