Not really. Grouping together massive amounts of games doesn't really tell you a lot.

True. It only shows you someones average over a prolonged period of time or season. Pretty pointless really i suppose.

Well no. If someone has a long good run followed by a short poor run, that isn't reflected in the statistics. Pretty obvious but hey...

But that is why stats are fun lads.
We can all play with them and make our own cases for why someone is dump of not?!
For instance I would say Vaughan has had 3 periods in his career!
1. "The purple patch" - 76
2. His comeback from long lay off - 43
3. The rest which was carp! - has to be sub 35
However, he still seems very much a sh1t or bust merchant.
