Re: If Mcgrath and Clark bowled together...............
"I seem to recall a leaked story from the Aussie dressing room when such stories were embargoed. Fingleton always claimed it was Bradman."
That 'leaked story' as I recall it was the Woodfull's conversation with Warner about how many sides were playing cricket. Fingleton blamed Bradman. Bradman wrote of the incident in 'Farewell to Cricket': 'Unfortunately one of the Australian players was a journalist and probably unsurprisingly, it was in all the newspapers the next morning.'
Fingleton was in an advanced state of off-piss at the accusation, but as I rtemember reading the failure to name him directly was the crowning touch. From the other side of the dispute, when Bradman did his 80th birthday series of interviews with Norman May in 1988, Harold Larwood was 'Harold', Keith Miller was 'Keith', Bill O'Reilly was 'Bill' whenever it was obvious which Bill he meant, the only two blokes from that time whose first names weren't used were 'Jardine' and 'Fingleton'.

Quite correct, I remember now.

When when Ian Chappell asked his grandfather Victor Richardson about Bradman Richardson replied with words to the effect that if you've nothing nice to say about someone, don't say anything at all. Was known as a right, royal prick.
I think the pair had religious differences too and the team a the time was allegedly split between Catholics and Protestants.

Pity that Chappell didn't take his grandfather's advice then.

If McGrath and Clark bowled together, it would be illegal.

There was also the incident in 1936-37 when, after Australia lost the first two Tests, several members of the team were carpeted before the ACB, allegedly for poor attitude and not trying hard enough.
Bradman was captain, and a number of his team believed that even if he had not "dobbed them in", he had displayed scant support for them in what was an intolerable situation.
