Still doing the business for Yorkshire, I see.
Remember when he played a couple of seasons at Essex? Just didn't seem right.....

It was 3 actually, and it seemed like a marriage made in heaven.

I could have moved it off the seam today - it was that favourable to seam bowlers. Oh yes, and Lancashire won the toss and decided to bat

Fine, admirable, courageous opponent. As Peter said, with decent fielders and more fitness, might well have been rated as highly as some of England's greatest.
His spectacular 51 at Sydney in 1994 remains one of my cherished early memories of cricket. Almost every good English performance in a series between 1997 and 2001 had a big effort from Gough at its heart, and when he was absent (NZ 1999, for example) the team was not the same; it wasn't just the bowling, he brought spirit and inspiration to the team. Steve Waugh's 1997 tour diary remarked on that point several times, emphasising the contribution of Gough's energy and enthusiasm to his team-mates effort, notwithstanding other bowlers returning better figures.
