Yeah, he comes up with some stupid comments, as does Amir Sohail and Rameez Raja. Still, English isn't their first language, so we shouldn't be too harsh.

Tony Greig says the same sort of things, and English IS his first language, so Ranjit shouldn't feel too bad.

Is Ranjit Fernando (the commentator) the same bloke who kept wickets for Sri Lanka in the 1975 World Cup?

There are too many dud commentators in the IPL.

Ranjit, Siva, Ramiz, Sunny, Shastri, Sohail & also Arun lal to an extent. And they are all from the Sub continent. It is not so much the English I am picking on rather on what they talk about.

Siva for example will rattle on something like "The last four was scored in the thirteenth over by Delhi Daredevils whereas in their eighth match against Hyderabad they scored a six in the seventeeth over and that too batting first"

Shastri will say mundane things quite emphatically.

It could be worse. I noticed in the RR v MI T20 match that the Sook was wired for sound. If ever there was a time NOT to listen to the commentary . . .

I've never liked sivaramakrishnan. I hate the way he speaks and the way the pitch of this voice constantly changes within each sentence.

"a maaaagNIIIIIIFICEnt shot from *pause* the batsman.."

He sounds like a wasp behind squashed against the window.

Smith actually comes across pretty well these days. I'd go as far as saying he comes across as being pretty likeable.
