A little while ago it seemed that Strauss's glory days were over and it
was possible we wouldn't see him in tests again. However, I know it's
still early days but it looks like he's back.

Who else do you recall that was given a reprieve and went on to do great things?

I guess Hayden could be mentioned. Wasn't there talk of him being
dropped in 2005 and then he went on to score 100 and hasn't looked back
since.....

This could be about at least 4 of our top 6 though...

Nothing's really changed with Strauss. The series he was dropped after, he'd scored a 96 and a seventy-odd.

He's been scratchy for a good while - and he still is. Only, now the rest of the batting collective are flushing themselves down the pan, his fifties and sixties are starting to look decent in comparison, whereas before it was all "oh, another Test without a hundred. What a c*nt".

Okay, but it doesn't always have to be about England!
