Are you sure? I would have thought that as likely as India and Pakistan voting for each other in an Asiovision song contest.
A blow for world peace if true.
Pakistan and India collaborate musically; Pak singers (late Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan) and bands (Junoon, for example) have been deployed in Bollywood.

Very true, and i'm sure Greek and Turkish musicians collaborate.
The voting in the Eurovision song contest is very little to do with music or musicians.

And the music has very little to do with quality music either...

Exactly, everyone knows English music rules the world. How many will buy that Russian winner's single and how many Europeans have Amy Winehous's album. The contest should be renamed the TAEECMC - The Annual Eastern European Crass Music Contest.
ps TYA: I reckon Pakistan would vote for India in an Asian Music Contest, after all, they 'borrow' a lot of tunes from us

Re: Eurovision Song Contest
When I was at university we commemorated Eurovision night with our own "Eurovision Bong Contest." I don't remember who won, but giggling like an idiot featured prominently.

... and an amazingly competitive pizza-eating contest followed shortly thereafter

Five people voting for the first option? That's five people in need of Doctorspin's professional services then - Unless he's one of them!

I picked it because it was the furthest from option 4, which seems to have sucked a few in.

Re: Eurovision Song Contest
Well I'm a big (converted) fan- Terry Wogan can s*ck my balls though.
There was a good smattering of entertaining acts and two songs that are going on my Ipod (France and Bosnia H). Fact is the competition has moved eastwards which means sure the UK and co. won't get a look in- but it's a free vote (unless Russian oligarchs had bought it- not impossible) and it's about entertainment first and foremost.

Of course - if the UK really wanted to win it we would send Amy Winehouse, Coldplay, Muse or somesuch.
Europe takes it seriously, we think it's a joke. Why do we keep paying for it out of our licence fees?
