A serious shoulder injury to Sussex bowler Rana Naved-ul-Hasan suspended play
in the Division One match against Durham at the Riverside.

Rana hurt himself diving to try to stop a boundary on the cover fence, with
Durham 233-2 in reply to Sussex's 291.
The 29-year-old Pakistan all-rounder was still on the floor 10 minutes later
when an ambulance arrived.
It was initially thought he had suffered a suspected dislocated shoulder or
broken collarbone

Rana Naved has dislocated his shoulder, unfortunately, it is not that Chris Adams has spontaneously combusted at short fine leg.

Pah, that was a let down. I thought someone had died. Cricket and drama queens, eh?

Not that I'm wishing injury on anyone, it just seems way over the top for the scale of the injury. Medical Emergency in what sense? A heart attack, brain haemorrhage or death might be considered a medical emergency, but frankly this constitutes at most a serious injury.

When Simon Jones did his knee in at the Gabba a few years back I was all for saying, fair enough, lets call the series off. 0-0 draw. You can carry on playing if you want, but just for fun. Lets not all get hurt here.

And again some things in life like Rana Naved's shoulder are more important making money. Lets call the county championship off, or at the very least allow Sussex to retire gracefully on their current points total. I wouldn't want to see any more of them endanger themselves.

Serious injuries happen every day. If you want to call life off and play for fun instead, fair enough, but fun is for uncompetitive losers. If he'd been an Aussie he'd have grown a new shoulder on the spot and carried on.

Mate, he struggles to even grow hair. I think a new shoulder might be asking a bit much.
