Re: Dale Steyn
I don't think he's the world's greatest bowler. I'd rather have Stuart Clark, Muttiah Muralitharan, and, after his recent improvements, probably Brett Lee as well. Thereafter, he's probably the best. I am not, however, going to jump on the bandwagon until I see how he does against both ourselves and Australia in the next 6 months or so. He should make mince-meat of England's batsman, but the immense strength of the Australian batting line-up may see him struggle. T'will be a great contest anyhow.

Aussie batting isn't much stronger than the Indians and he hammered the indians.

Yup, he was the master of the Indian tail.

Re: Dale Steyn
Interesting perception of 'hammered'. He removed six top-order batsman in five innings. The Australian batting line-up is certainly stronger than the Indian one and is famous for its ruthlessness. He'll have to get more wickets than that against their top order to be truly described as lethal. It's by no means a bad thing to be the destroyer of the tail, and his bowling performance in India was much more than respectable. He did not, however, hammer India. He put in some very good yards and was impressive nonetheless.

Re: Dale Steyn
Test 1
Chennai pitch for the first test match was about as flat a pitch that there has ever been.
He didn't give away too many runs and when he saw the chance he blew the tailenders away with FAST bowling. Some of the yorkers during the chennai test were outstanding to say the least
Test 2
Blew India away for 76 in 20 overs on a pitch with only a tinge of grass. SA batted right after that spell and scored 490+ for 7. In the second innings he was once again very impressive.
Test 3
Once again made life tough for the Indians on a lottery surface and got 3 wickets

And only 6/15 wickets were Top 7 batsmen.
That's is not taking anything away from him, but he hardly destroyed the Indian batting line-up.

A fair call Augustus. Steyn has been in pretty good form but let's see how he goes against some stiffer opposotion on flat wickets. If he comes up trumps then I'll happily agree that he is one of the world's best.

He's currently struggling against a no-names Middlesex attack. Stauss took 15 off his first over.
