Re: You've got to be kidding.......

The problem is not just that former players aren't speaking up, but that current players are gagged.

Back in 2002 Adam Gilchrist was asked if he thought Murali threw the ball. He replied with something like "Yes, if you read the rules I don't think he's quite within them". He then went on to say that young bowlers on the sub-continet were following his example. He compared it to how things work in Australia where a young bowler with a suspect action is stopped from playing.

Gilchrist was subsequently reprimanded by the ACB for making a "public comment detrimental to the interests of cricket".

Drawing attention to a problem is now considered detrimentalto the game's interests. It's a case of "move along people, nothing to see here".

Maybe that's why AB recently implied that the Aussie bowlers should learn to chuck. It really has become if you can't beat them, you should join them mentality.

Let's face it once the ICC cleared Murali because it didn't want to expunge his dodgy stats from the record books and incur the wrath of India, it opened the proverbial can of worms and it's open season on chuck clones.

Open season? Does that make any sense whatsoever in this context?

That is apart from the mangled metaphor.

This is weird. George Dobell has come out and provided a list of so called "facts" about Ajmal's action, that "prove it is legal"-

http://www.espncricinfo.com/pakistan-v-england-2012/content/current/story/552579.html

Since when did Cricinfo and its correspondents become ICC Cheerleaders? Strange.

Don't take anything Dobell says as gospel. He has previous for kite flying as most Pears supporters would testify.

I read in the Telegraph today that Ajmal's doosra is supposedly less of a chuck than his off-break: Seven degrees against eleven, or something.

What absolute bollocks.

I know in Australia they've decided to take some sort of moral high ground and the Coaches at their Academy are refusing to endorse the learning of the doosra.

sh!t. I agree with Bob about something. That's never happened before.

Mixed metaphor and I would have thought that this is the place that affords one a rather elastic poetic licence.

I don't reckon these tools know how to measure a chuck. Both Chuck and Chuck II's elbow was/is almost at 90 degrees (well 60 at least) as it approached/es their right ear, and then twanged/s straight.

And Chuck II can't/doesn't straighten his arm?? Fark off
