the role of south africa is now being played by lanka. 5 wickets in hand, 6 to get in 10 deliveries and now its just 3 wickets in hand and 6 to get in 5 deliveries

FMD, 2 successful 300+ chases in successive games by SL. Well done them.

Wouldn't read too much into it Skulls. A lot of experimentation going on

All I read into it is the massive inconsistency of the Lankans. All out for 40 odd in one game then two successful chases of 300+. Shocked

SA virtually went into experimentation mode after sealing the series but there was no excuse for Lanka getting bowled out for 43.

As mentioned, SA needed to get Albie in earlier to put the total beyond Lanka's reach.

AB's ton was better than Sanga's which proves that it's all about which team wins. AB was quicker, more audacious and SA batted when there was a little bit in it for the bowlers. The pitch got better and better.

Yesterday the commentators discussed the day South Africa succesfully chased down the then world record of 434 set by Australia at the same ground. Apparently Boeta Dippenaar joked that he should have been MOM, as South Africa would never have made that much had he not been run out for 1 right at the start.

I felt a bit like that about Smith's ton, though he eventually cranked it up at the end.
