Australian Open Tennis 2012

Post by Paul Keating on Sun 15 Jan 2012, 17:56

This is unacceptable. You mean we are yet to have a tennis thread on this year's open. Fark me dead.

So the brat Tomic is coming back from two sets to love down and looks like coming over the top of Verdasco. Goodness knows why he drew such a good player in the first round.

That is the nature of a "draw".

Damir Dokic was right - the draw is obviously rigged.

Bernie's already ranked 37 so he's not far off a seeding. Knocking off a seeded player today might have been all he needed to just about ensure a bracketed number for the French.

Which is good news for Bernie, and also not bad for Oz tennis generally because a couple of years ago Lleyton said he'd be gone for good before Bernie got a seeding.

I think he'll continue to do well until the other players properly analyse his unusual style.

Clearly has a good tennis brain though.

he has deft shots as well as power and is still filling out...agree others may find him out a bit but he is still the only teen in the top hundred...his smarts mean he will adapt his game

feck me, Dokic must be 10 kg overweight, lumbers around and loses her second round match in less than an our. Gets the same money as a bloke who may have played 9 or 10 sets. How is that equality?

Don't be silly Mick. In tennis, equality IS the women getting the same money as the blokes for between 2/3 and 3/5 of the work.

Politicians the world over are using it as inspiration.

Roddick did his bit for equality by retiring after three sets
