Seems they were expecting about 25,000.
Should be a bigger turnout tonight with the return of TGM. Heard a wag on the radio this morning who suggested that the only games that will deliver a return to CA are the ones with Warney playing. Did'nt seem too far away from the truth to me.

That picture of SCG MacGill in today's paper, celebrating a T20 wicket, certainly laid the over-the-top high camp credentials of this format on the table. Kenneth Williams could not have been more flagrantly pink.

all the more reason why it was dumb to split the NSW & Vic markets in 2.

FMD the "official" CA Big Bash iPhone app is rubbish. I can't even get the team lists for the team batting second so don't know if Warner is playing.

Some big hitting by D Hussey but apart from that, nothing to get too excited about from the Stars.

James Faulkner bowls Chris Gayle. They have got to pick him in the test team now.

Warner has prettywell cemented his place in all forms of Cricket with a big ton. He did give a couple of chances though including a runout for which no one appealed.
Faulkner bowled well for the stars & TGM was limited to two overs.

Re: Wide Wally's BBL 2011/12 thread
It's hilarious. A crowd of 26k or so, when the most conservative estimate ahead of time was 40k, while some were saying it was to be an easy 50k, and there were a few who suck the CA c*ck for a living saying it would be 90k and a record crowd.
And apparently TGM was only half the bowler he once was. Which is appropriate as he's half the man he once was.
CA will trumpet a record TV audience for pay TV coverage of domestic cricket for the first game (which only drew what? 12.6k to the stadium) but can we hit the pause button for just a second here... Isn't this competition supposed to be the one that draws crowds back to domestic cricket in Australia? I'm sticking with my prediction that the Australian cricket public, unlike CA, has largely woken up to the fact that t20 is, much of the time, tosh; while the non-cricket public still doesn't give a fig.

Re: Wide Wally's BBL 2011/12 thread
Jeez, this thread gets Rikki'd?
As the Australian Domestic scene goes to sleep until the t20 BS is finished, will the other thread be un-Rikki'd until then? Or will we just carry more Rikkis on the board? Frommie? It looks messy...
