This seems to be a form of cricket that's best seen on TV. Went to a game at the WACA and left at half time cos I was bored; yet have enjoyed most of the games I've seen on Fox.

BTW pretty sure the 'other' domestic comp on this summer (the Gay League) is drawing crowds averaging about 11000 a game...not seen all the crowd figures for the BBL but it'd have to be averaging double that.

Agree on both counts. I didn't especially enjoy the game live the other night but watch the BBL each night and it's transient entertainment that surpasses any other garbage on at this time of the year. Such a stark contrast to the Boxing Day test which I thoroughly enjoyed though. Interestingly enough one of its virtues is meant to be that it's a fast game but there seemed to be a lot of mucking around and procrastinating. Ironic though that they reviewed a decision re. Cam White but of course are not doing it for the tests.

The BBL ratings are throught the roof and the crowds seem to be superior to the A League.

Nernie got the gong for the fastest 50 & the longest six (i think). I was sitting in the old members stand & one of his hits cleared the stand on the full. Shocked

Hobarts fielding let them down. As the local rag reported this morning 'Regulation skied catches in the outfield found more grass than a sniffer dog at a Rastafarian convention'.

I'd be curious about why you think tv is a better experience sheety. It can't be Mark Waugh.

I have no desire to look up attendance figures for the A-League.

But for the KFCBBL2011-12, you can finid all sorts of details here.

So far there have been three matches officially designaated as 'sold out'. Two in Perth, one in Hobart. Given the sh!t crowds those centres draw for Tests, there's an instant excuse to move their Tests to Melbourne and Sydney indefinitely.

The 21 matches so far have drawn 385,638 spectators, an average of 18,364 per match. Interestingly, the Warne factor remains a huge influence. Take out the five matches TGM has been in, and the average crowd per match drops to 15,332 - a drop of about 16%.

Oh, and a retired spinner who has made a comeback in this year's BBL has said he'd be available to play the t20wc in September.
Spoiler:
Much as I like Hoggggggy!!! I'd still prefer it was TGM.

Attendance 2010/11
These are the attendance records of each of the teams at the end of the home and away season. The table does not include finals series attendances.

Melbourne Victory 15 15,234 32,321 8,287 228,517
Adelaide United 15 11,552 21,083 7,370 173,286
Brisbane Roar 15 9,279 20,831 3,522 139,182
Perth Glory 15 8,488 16,019 5,576 127,322
Newcastle Jets 15 8,429 13,463 3,114 126,439
Melbourne Heart 15 8,315 25,897 2,754 124,725
Wellington Phoenix 15 7,981 14,108 4,700 119,716
Central Coast Mariners 15 7,713 12,409 5,373 115,695
Sydney FC 15 7,656 42,000 4,012 114,834
North Queensland Fury 15 4,245 7,195 1,003 63,681
Gold Coast United 15 3,434 140,783 1,658 51,505
Totals 165 8,393 140,783 1,003 1,384,902

Gold Coast keeps their crowds under 5000 to avoid extra stadium and security costs (billionaires are tight arses)

BTW Zat

A BBL sell out at the WACA is just under 16,000 people

At the Ashes Test last season ... the attendances were

Day 1: 27,473[28] (Highest attendance at the WACA Ground in the 21st century).[29]
Day 2: 20,661[28]
Day 3: 20,073[28]
Day 4: 16,616[28]

as for Hobart crowds ...skully went there ...no further investigation needed to find blame

How can it be a sell out when there's thousands of seats left? Are you their accountant?

Any sign of the WACA being upgraded? It's the most out of date and run down looking of all the Aussie grounds. Still better than the soulless Gabba, though......

Shah could be considered one of the better T20 players in the world, he's gone almost everywhere and performed. IMO, he should cakewalk into the England side

Watched some of Wright's innings on the Foxy replay this evening. Damn, he struck the ball clean. Pity Nernie played on, cos he was hitting them even better. Shocked
