The World Cup criticism thread

Post by Henry on Tue Jan 18, 2011 1:43 am

Believe me, there will be plenty of criticism after six weeks, yes, six weeks of mismatches between test teams and the minnows before the quarter finals start.

I reckon this tournament will be the death of ODI cricket.

Why can't they organize it on the lines of WC'92?

To me that was best ever format for a WC. No sooking chances to anyone about the strengths of their groups. Just play with each and every country present in the WC and top-4 go to SF.

Simple and quite effective.

This globalizing cricket thing is sh!t. Forget about it. Play 8 best teams in the world in cricket's premier competition (in ODIs) and thats it.

While the marketing men run cricket, there is more chance of hell freezing over than the 1992 format being adopted again.

So four teams qualify from each group. This is group A-

Australia
Pakistan
New Zealand
Sri Lanka
Canada
Kenya
Zimbabwe

So we're gonna have six weeks of matches to decide which four teams from this group will progress to the next stage. Dumbfounding.

Rockall's nice this time of year - you'll be too damn busy trying to cling on to worry about some game of cricket!

Lets not be too hasty, if there are a couple of shocks and a few injuries to key Canadian players you never know, Aus might make the quarters.

Someone wake me up when the group stages are over.

Damn, that IS just ridiculous. BCCOARIAB milking the sport for all it's worth yet again, to the actual detriment of the sport. Qunts.

Its actually ICC not BCCI which decides which associate nations will take part in WC.
