Re: The Federal Election Thread - 2007 (part two)
Leo the swing in Qld was always going to be huge.
First a local boy as a Candidate for PM
Second in twelve years SE Qld's population has increased enormously with migrating mexicans a big percentage of these people are not your retirees any longer but Labor voting workers as well who came here for a better and cheaper life and fear Costello and his IR laws.
Thirdly Qld hated Latham and that caused a big shift to the coalition which is about to boomerang on Saturday.

One pundit suggesting the Libs will lose the Reps by 30 seats, as well as control of the Senate (from 1 July next year).
story
He's also predicting the Democracts will lose all their seats...ha ha ha, sucked in ya bunch of rats. Great decision to allow the GST thro wasn't it? People don't forget a betrayal like that.

Surprised to see Labor so short given the number of seats needed to take the office.

Labor was 1.17 and the Coalition 5.10 last night... must be some moderate money for the government this morning, presumably off the back of that Galaxy poll.

There will be takers at 5.10 of course hoping for a miracle mostly small punters.

Does anyone give the Galaxy polls any credence?
They've been all over the shop for the last few months, yet the Fairfax and News polls have been fairly consistant.

That Newscorp canute Glenn Milne is saying today that it is just about even.
I'm going to have to wade in at 5.00 for the Coalition as well. Crazy in a two horse race.

Re: The Federal Election Thread - 2007 (part two)
Might have to throw a few bucks on the Coalition. I reckon that the odds I've got early in the piece on Labor might mean I can make sure I come out at least even on this affair. At least in the betting stakes...

A mate of mine had $10k on the ALP at the start of the year at 2.10 or so.
He could put $4k on the Coalition now and will lock in a gain of $6k either way.
But he'd prefer to win the lot.

I'd be going for the safety net there. I still think the little lying c will find a way to get out of jail on this one.

"That Newscorp canute Glenn Milne is saying today that it is just about even. "
Hmmm.....wasn't Canute the bloke that tried to hold back the tide?
In any case Glenn, as Country Radio (Brod Smith, Greg Quill, Kelvin Tolhurst and co) sang in 1972 (an ominous year), "wishin' can never be believin'...."

Galaxy have been pretty brilliant at state and Federal elections since 2004.
Rod Cameron said on Lateline a few weeks back that he ignores Newspoll and just focusses on Galaxy and ACN now.
